QYC gives back has partnered with Andrea to offer a free Yoga4Cancer class each week from September to December. The class will be held every Tuesday evening from 5:30-6:45pm at the YMCA 100 Wright Crescent, Kingston.

Yoga4Cancer, developed by Tari Prinster, a cancer survivor and master yoga teacher, is a specialized yoga methodology that is tailored to address the specific physical and emotional needs left by cancer & its treatments. This unique approach focuses on how to stimulate the immune system through movement, improve flexibility & strength, along with reducing anxiety and boosting overall well-being.

Andrea has been teaching yoga and meditation since 2009 primarily at Yoga Samatva, however she founded Into The Flow Yoga and Wellness in late 2017, for individuals facing a cancer diagnosis. After losing her mother to Ovarian Cancer in 2013, she attained specialized training in the Yoga 4 Cancer methodology at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health and started Kingston’s first Yoga 4 Cancer classes.

Andrea encourages her students to explore their practice through mindfulness, discovering the connection between mind, body and spirit, and what it feels like to slow down and get present in an ever-shifting world. Yoga can help peel back the layers of expectation, self-judgement and fear, opening students up to exploring themselves with compassion and curiosity, learning to accept themselves and their circumstances as they are.
